The one where Jayne is SPOILED ROTTEN...

My 30th Birthday was last Tuesday.
I was kinda dreading it, not because I think 30 is old, but because I think 30 is ADULT.

I did not expect to reach adulthood totally broke and in debt, living with my in-laws....

Yet, here I am.

All broke, adulty and 30.

My sweet spouse was determined that my birthday would be EPIC.
This made me nervous.
Massive attention directed my way STRESSES me OUT.
Also?
I may have mentioned that we are broke....

OH MY VERUCA SALT, people.

My birthday was ridiculous. AMAZINGLY so.

Started on the Monday before my birthday....

A little surprise shindig at the local sports bar--
Friends
Good Food
Balloons
Gifties
A Tiara
Cake

What else does a birthday girl need?

A LOT, apparently.....

Because then?

The gifts kept on ROLLING IN.
Remember my B-day list?
Go look at it.
TOTAL gift carnage!
Way too much!

AND THEN?

Club 33.
As in the exclusive, Members ONLY, 5-star restaurant-hidden-in-Disneyland, Club 33.

FANFREAKINGTASTIC.
My family totally punked me too.
I thought we we going to some other restaurant for a little birthday dinner....

Ummmmm, no.
I sipped champagne while wearing Mickey Ears.
EPIC INDEED.

Bestest part? They surprised me with 2 of our closest friends, who are also huuuge Disneyphiles like us...
I LOVED that they were there to share the experience with us.

This place was MAJOR.
The food, the ambiance, the disney-done-supah-faaaaaancy, it fabulously unreal.

Okay, so enough is ENOUGH, right?

NOPE.

There were more presents...
Yep, more.
I won't list them all--seems tacky...ahem..

But

Remember the bag that I was obsessed with?

O got it for his Mommy.
Apparently, my toddler has quite the bankroll....

It's as gorgeous as I thought it would be.
And cavernous.

I adddddddooooooooorrrrrre it.

BEST.BIRTHDAY.EVER.

And not because of the gifts.
Honestly.

It was the time put in.
The thought.
All the work and planning solely to make me happy and feel special.

My husband, My ILs and my friends are RAD.

I love you all so much, and thank you for loving me!

I am one lucky Adult.

Surprise Party Cake! So Cute!

We were REALLY there.

Special Birthday Menu!

The Picture DOES NOT do it justice!

I'm Awesome at being FANCY.

Cheeky Waiter!

We had fun with this phone Booth!

Disney Gothic
If this picture doesn't sum us up, I don't know what would.

Hear ye, Hear ye:

My husband would like it known that he is not a completely insensitive jackass.

He feels as though my Valentine's Post was rather slanderous.

[When I pointed out that it wasn't untrue, he made his sad face....poor man.]

He blamed it all on a tragic miscommunication, and vowed to make it up to me....

His first attempt, the day after V-Day, well, it didn't work out as he'd hoped...

He, sweetly, brought me home a heart-shaped box of candy, a box of jellybellys, and a silly singing monkey*...

All super valentinesy.  Yay!!!

Except I hate boxed candy.
And Jellybeans.
He has been told this before. Often.

He forgets things. Often.

Hello!! He was focused on the Valentine's Day theme....
Made perfect sense.

I just had to laugh.  It was too funny not to laugh.
Husby just made his sad face again.
Poor, sad, spouseface.

He was going to make it up to me, damn it!
What did I want?

What did I want?????

SPRINKLES CUPCAKES.
(which I had mentioned several times BEFORE Valentines Day...ahem.)

Ohhhhhhh yes.

So.very.Deeeelish....

OH! And lunch at my favorite Mexican joint that we never go to because it's 40 minutes away.

Ummmmm, what could be better?!

Nothing

So last Saturday?
That's what I got.
Cupcakes and CheesyMexicanBuenoness....
 YUM.

It was a great day. For the whole Family!
(O had a quesadilla and got beans in his hair, hooray!)

Husband is all redeemed and stuff.  He is a peach of a man.

But really?
If we're honest about the situation?
This was all my fault.

So sayeth my loving husband:

If you had just dictated to me what you wanted, then I would have gotten it, and everyone would've been happy.  I need you to help me help YOU be happy. Just ask and you shall receive...oh, and write it down, 'kayThanks.**

Sigh.

Dictation it is!

My birthday is next month....
You better believe there is going to be a list!

I'm going to start that list as of....
now.

When it's done, I will post it here.

It will be Written AND Public.

I shall be blameless and well-gifted.

Ha.

[Just so you don't think he's all neglected, he got some pretty awesome gifties, FYI]

*Okay, the monkey?  He has these huge cartoony Frank eyes and sings the L.O.V.E Song.  Tre Creepy....
O loves it!

**He really would give me just about anything I want...if he could just remember what it was....writing down and blatant hints that aren't really hints but flat-out requests + reminders are key in our marriage.  I need to let go of the surprise option....see?  It really IS my fault!  Shhh.  Don't tell him....

Because I said I would!

While I sit on pins and needles waiting for Will to call me, who is waiting for the Doc to call HIM, let's turn our attention to something happier:

O's Halloweeny First Birthday Extravaganza!!!

I was panicked and stressed up until everyone arrived: The weather was awful, nixing our outside plans, Owen fell asleep right as people were supposed to arrive and tons of people canceled last minute-I thought we were DOOMED...

But you know what?

It turned out to be just what it should have been:

Small
Warm
Comfortable
Sincere
Lovely

Here's a Looky:

Big hugs to everyone who helped make his day (and Daddy and Mommy's too) SPECIAL.
We love you all! Thanks for giving us yours!

Sweet potato pancakes, grits, and gorgeous veils, OH my!

Today has been a weird day. First poor Farrah Fawcett lost her battle with cancer, and then MJ has a heart attack....While it is a sad day for the pop culture community and world at large, at risk of sounding disrespectful, I'm glad they're gone, b/c at least they're (hopefully) at peace. Ms. Fawcett was undoubtedly in immeasurable amounts of pain--in hell, and Mr. Jackson was well, immeasurably fucked up, so in his own brand of hell all the same.

But that's all I'm going to say about that....

On to happier things:

Our trip to Atlanta went REALLY well. It was so much fun, but OH MY SWELTERING. So hot!

Husband went off to "rough it" with the boys in the woods of North Carolina (if a swank cabin with flat screens, beds, and a jacuzzi coupled with frat-level drinking games are part of a general wilderness motif), and I stayed in Hotlanta with my new SIL and her friends. They were a fantastic group of women, and so sweet.

The weekend was filled with fantastic food (my life is forever-changed after the introduction of Moose Tracks), bridal celebrations, drunken texts (from the boys), silly pictures, and scandalous lingerie (all in the name of Jesus...lol).

All in all, the makings of a memorable weekend.

I loved getting to spend time with my SIL-to-be, as we really didn't know each other AT ALL before this trip. After, however, we've discovered a menagerie of commonalities and have made a pact. Haha.

The best part of the trip was being able to go with her to try on her dress and be a part of the veil-choosing. Dealing with the aging Southern Debutante, not so much.

To the woman's credit though, she did show us one of the coolest tricks to do with your veil that I have ever seen.

As far as little Owen, we are in 20th week, and feeling pretty good. All I want to do is eat, which kind of freaks me out, because I want to be really careful about my weight gain, and unfortunately, I'm not craving veggies and cottage cheese, if you know what I mean....

We have our scheduled U/S through the perinatal office on the 29th. This was supposed to be our anatomy screen, but as you all know, I jumped the gun, and went to a third-party place on my own.

I'm nervous that this U/S will tell us that it's a girl. Not that we'll be any LESS thrilled, it will just be kind of weird....like: JUST KIDDING. Sorry, Owen. You'll now be known as Olivia. Awkward!

In reality, all I care about is that he's healthy, which is why I love U/S's because you can get a more accurate reading of the heartbeat, position, movement, measurements, etc. If I had it my way, I'd have one every month! Haha.

In other baby news, I've started the prep for baby shower time!

I think I'll put all of that in a separate post though, as I'm starting to lose focus! Oy! Mommy brain!
